08/07/2012 - On the evening of Tuesday, August 7, 2012 in the Selectmen's meeting room at the Hanson Town Hall, Rob O'Brien was sworn in as the new fire Lieutenant for the Hanson Fire Department. Lieutenant Rob O'Brien started his career in Hanson when he was appointed as a call-firefighter in 1997. He then was appointed to full-time firefighter in 2000. Since his appointment to the Hanson Fire Department, Lieutenant O'Brien became active in the Plymouth County Technical Rescue Team as a diver, and technical rescue specialist. He is also active with the public fire education for the town of Hanson, as well as many other organizations in the town. Surrounded by family and friends, Lieutenant Rob O'Brien was sworn in by Hanson Town Clerk Elizabeth Sloan, following some brief remarks by Hanson Fire Chief Jerome Thompson. Lieutenant O'Brien had his badge pinned on by his son, as his wife looked on. After a few moments of difficulty, the badge was pinned on, and a round of applause followed. Lieutenant Rob O'Brien thanked those in attendance, his family, and his co-workers for their support during his time studying for the exam, and the time leading up to his appointment.
