08/05/2016 - WHITMAN, MASSACHUSETTS (PLYMOUTH COUNTY) - Around 1450 hours on the afternoon of Friday, August 5, 2016 the Whitman Fire Department responded to a report of a motorcycle accident at the intersection of Washington Street and Broad Street. Whitman Engine-243, Car-3 and a mutual aid ambulance from East Bridgewater responded. Companies arrived to find a male victim of a motorcycle accident in his 50's, with mutli-systems trauma in the roadway. The motorcycle collided with a truck at the intersection. Command requested Boston MedFlight to the scene due to the extent of the injuries to the patient. Boston MedFlight responded with a 25-minute ETA, to the landing zone at the Brockton Hospital. Command changed the landing zone to the Whitman Middle School on Corthell Avenue while the helicopter was en route due to its updated estimated time of arrival. Whitman Ambulance-247 and Ambulance-248, which were both at Brockton hospitals with previous calls went to the landing zone to assist companies on-scene. Boston MedFlight transported the male victim to the New England Medical Center in Boston for further treatment of the injuries sustained in the accident. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
