07/31/2016 - WHITMAN, MASSACHUSETTS (PLYMOUTH COUNTY) - Around 1520 hours the Whitman Fire Department responded to a reported motor vehicle accident in the area of 992 Bedford Street, near the Brockton city line. Ambulance-247, Engine-243 and Car-3 responded. Companies arrived to find a single vehicle motor vehicle accident with the vehicle into the woods. Car-3 reported there was entrapment and the jaws would be needed. A box was struck for manpower. Crews utilized chainsaws and the jaws to extricate the victim from the vehicle. The patient was transported to the South Shore Hospital, with an additional paramedic on-board. This was the first time the Town of Whitman's new set of Homatro battery operated extrication equipment was utilized. The Homatro battery operated cutters, spreaders, and ram set was recently purchased and delivered with the Town's new Engine-243, a 2016 E-One e-MAX 1500/750/30F pumper. This engine replaces the old Engine-3, a 1978 Hendrickson with a 1994 E-One Glider Kit 1000/500.
