07/28/2010 - Around 1345 hours Whitman MA Fire/Rescue and Emergency Services responded to a report of a natural gas house service that was broken at 28 Sullivan Terrace. Companies arrived to find a 1" gas line feeding the home to be broken and actively leaking. Box-44 was struck for manpower to respond. Homes on Sullivan Terrace were evacuated. A supply line from the hydrant, a 3" line with a Blitz gun attached, and a 2.5" hose line were all stretched as a precaution. National Grid responded and shut down the leak through a shut off in the driveway of the residence. No injuries were reported.
