07/14/2010 - Just after 2300 hours the Hanson Fire Department was alerted to 158 Brook Street for a report of a horse who had a leg fall through the floor of a barn. When companies arrived they were told the animal may have been stuck there since 1630 hours. The Plymouth County Technical Rescue Team was immediately called, requesting 8-technicians, the trailer from Duxbury Fire, and a veterinarian to the scene. PCTRT members worked for over an hour securing hoisting points, and shoring the unstable barn. Once the vet arrived on-scene, the animal was hoisted out of the void in the floor. The team attempted several times to get the horse on its feet again, but were unsucessful. The horse was placed on a large "stretcher" for horses and was hauled out of the barn. The MSPCA and vet on-scene took control of the care of the horse.
