KINGSTON, MASSACHUSETTS (PLYMOUTH COUNTY) - Around 0720 hours on the morning of Thursday, May 12, 2016 the Kingston Fire Department received multiple calls for a trash truck on fire in the parking lot of CVS Pharmacy at 189 Summer Street. At the time of the call, Kingston units were tied up on a medical emergency. Duxbury 4-2 was on the air and came upon the truck fire. 4-2 reported the rear of the trash truck was fully involved and approximately 20-40 feet away from the structure. Due to the lack of Kingston apparatus readily available due to the other call, he requested a Duxbury engine to the scene. Duxbury Engine-3, Car-3 and 4-1 responded. The trash truck dumped the fiery load of trash in the parking lot to save the truck from burning. Kingston Ladder-1 arrived, and Duxbury Engine-3 laid a supply line from the hydrant to the ladder for a water supply. Companies used several hand lines to knock down the fire. DEP, the public works department with a front end loader, and a representative from the trash company were requested to the scene. Two engines, the Deputy Chief and an ambulance from Kingston also responded to the scene. Kingston and Duxbury firefighters had the fire knocked down and under control in around 20 minutes. Crews remained on scene picking up and awaiting the clean up crews to pick up the trash debris left in the parking lot. No injuries were reported.
