04/14/2014 - Around 1400 hours the Whitman Fire Department responded to a report of a truck leaking diesel fuel in the area of 100 Essex Street. A tractor trailer unit struck a fire hydrant on Industrial Way, rupturing the fuel tank. The truck stopped on Essex Street. The DPW spread sand and assisted the fire department with controlling the leak. The DPW also helped off load the remaining fuel. DEP was requested to respond, along with Plymouth County BCI.
