03/15/2017 - WHITMAN, MASSACHUSETTS (PLYMOUTH COUNTY) - Around 1230 hours on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 15, 2017 the Whitman Fire Department received a call for a reported motor vehicle accident on Bedford Street (Route-18) near the intersection of Forest Street. Engine-243, Ambulance-249 and Car-3 responded. Companies arrived to find a four vehicle motor vehicle accident, involving two trucks with plows on them. One victim was complaining of injuries. The crew from Ambulance-249 transported that person to the South Shore Hospital. One of the plow trucks involved was able to avoid the accident, but collided with a telephone pole, causing minor damage. Verizon was requested to check on the pole. Plymouth County Sheriffs Department BCI unit responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. The cause of the motor vehicle accident is under investigation. No other injuries were reported. Route-18 was shut down for a short period of time for investigation, and vehicle removal.
