03/15/2017 - NORWELL, MASSACHUSETTS (PLYMOUTH COUNTY) - Around 1300 hours on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 15, 2017 the Norwell Fire Department responded to a reported building fire at 164 Old Oaken Bucket Road. En route, Car-1 requested a Scituate engine to the scene due to the report of active fire in the building. Companies arrived to find fire showing from a one and a half story wood framed garage, that was attached to a one and a half story wood framed dwelling. A working fire was struck, bringing a Hingham engine to Norwell Fire Headquarters for coverage. Companies stretched an 1-3/4" and 2-1/2" hand lines and quickly knocked the heavy fire down. Crews opened up and checked for extension into the house. A dry 1-3/4" hand line was stretched into the dwelling, but not charged. There was no extension into the dwelling. The fire was contained to the two car garage. Crews opened up the roof, placing two holes, checking for fire extension. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The building and electrical inspectors were called to the scene to assist. No injuries were reported.
