03/07/2007 Funeral held for Retired Whitman Firefighter Christopher Peterson, 64. Ret FF Peterson passed away following a period of failing health on March 2nd. Chris was appointed a Career Firefighter on April 1, 1973 and became a Certified EMT in 1977. He attended Fire Science Courses @ Massasoit Community College and served as President of the Whitman Firefighters Union, Local 1769 for several years. He was also active in the International Association of Firefighters and the Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts. He retired from the Whitman Fire-Rescue Department on October 14, 2000 after more than 27 years of service.
