03/02/2007 At 1345 hrs Whitman Fire received the central station alarm for the United Methodist Church at 503 South Avenue. Shortly after the engine and ladder rolled out the fire station received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a fire in the building. Upon their arrival, companies found a small fire in the bathroom in the school section of the building, which the chief deemed suspicious. The chief requested a Whitman Police Detective, Plymouth County Sheriff Department BCI and the State Fire Marshall to the scene for investigation.
