While companies were engaged in an aggressive interior attack, heavy fire broke through the roof, lighting up the evening sky. Car-56 pulled all of the firefighters out of the building and went to exterior operations until the heavy fire could be knocked down. The heavy fire was quickly knocked down and companies returned to the interior to knock down the fire and check for hot spots. Crews worked on-scene for over an hour knocking down the fire. No injuries were reported. The Brockton Fire Department reports the cause of the fire to be electrical in nature. This was the beginning of a busy night for city firefighters. A little over two hours later firefighters worked at a fire at 15 Fern Street. Around 0400 hours the following morning firefighters were called for a mattress fire on Colonel Bell Drive, but the majority of the fire was knocked down upon their arrival.
