02/07/2012 - Around 1700 hours on the evening of Tuesday, February 7th, 2012 the Duxbury Fire Department responded to a reported fire at 99 Bayridge Lane. Companies arrived to find smoke showing from a two-story wood framed dwelling. A working fire was requested, bringing a Kingston engine to the scene, and Marshfield and Pembroke engine companies to Duxbury for station coverage. Crews grabbed a hydrant and stretched two pre-connected hand lines from Ladder-1 into the basement of the occupied dwelling. The fire was confined to the basement. No extension was found on the first or second floors. The rear entrance to the basement was concealed under the deck on the rear of the dwelling. That presented an unusual problem while crews were extinguishing the blaze. The fire was quickly knocked down within twenty minutes. Plymouth County Sheriffs Department BCI Unit responded to photograph the fire scene. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
