02/06/2012 - Around 1820 hours on the evening of Monday, February 6th, 2012, the Somerville Fire Department dispatched for a reported building fire on Jaques Street. First arriving companies to 37 Jaques Street found heavy fire in two buildings, with the exposures being threatened. A second alarm was requested upon arrival. Fire was in a 2.5 story wood framed dwelling and had extended to a 1.5 story wood framed garage. Neighboring exposures were a problem when companies first arrived, but crews were able to knock down the heavy fire quickly. The main fire building and the exposure building were set behind two three story wood frame occupied dwellings. An additional engine and truck were requested over the second alarm. The OIC reported the majority of the heavy fire was knocked down around 1900 hours. The State Fire Marshall was requested to respond to assist in the fire investigation. Companies spent an extended amount of time on the scene checking fire hot spots and overhauling the fire buildings. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
