01/29/2014 - Around 1030 hours on the morning of Wednesday, January 29, 2014 the Cambridge Fire Department responded to a reported building fire at the intersection of Meacham Road and Locke Street, near the Somerville line. Companies arrived to find fire between the first and second floors of a three story wood framed dwelling that was currently under construction at 17 Meacham Road. Crews opened up the ceiling and stretched a line to knock down the fire. A second alarm was struck, bringing additional companies to the scene. The fire was knocked down quickly. The fire may have started when construction workers were utilizing a propane heater to heat the floor they were working on. The fire is currently under investigation. No injuries were reported.
