01/24/2012 - Around 2245 hours on the evening of Tuesday, January 24, 2012 the Brockton Fire Department received a call reporting that a vehicle has collided with a house at 862 Centre Street. Engine-4, Squad-A, the TSU, an AMR contract ambulance and the Police responded to the scene. Engine-4 arrived to find a two vehicle crash, with one vehicle that had driven through the front porch of a three story wood frame occupied apartment building. All occupants were reported to be out of the vehicle on arrival. The building was evacuated. The building inspector, the gas company, and Car-56 was requested to the scene. The driver, reported to be a 35-year old woman, was arrested at the scene and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and impeded operation, texting while driving. The pick-up truck was traveling at a high rate of speed down Centre Street, traveling west bound. The truck struck a parked car, that was occupied by three people, and then proceeded up Centre Street until it collided with the house at number 862. The front porch of the home was completely ripped off the first floor, and the porches on floors two and three were unstable due to the collision. The truck also did damage to the immediate front of the house, near the front door. None of the people involved were immediately transported from the scene. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Brockton Police Department, who was assisted on scene by the Plymouth County Sheriffs Department BCI Unit.
