01/19/2008 - At 0730 hours Whitman Police Officer David Gregory responded to a reported hostage situation at the F.E. Holt School located at 20 Essex Street. This was the begining of a large scale drill that lasted over 12 hours and utilized local and state entities including fire, police, S.W.A.T. and technical rescue teams and more. The elaborate drill was held in an old school building that is scheduled to be torn down in Feburary.
