My Calm is Behind the Lens*
by Justin Miller

For me, photography is my 'calm'. Here's my full rig set up for birding - DSLR-A300, Tamron 200-500 F5-6.3, Wired remote, Kata neck strap, and tripod. I'm pretty much 'in the zone' whenever I go out and shoot - and it recharges the calm in my system!

I figured photography is almost a given for all of us, right? ;) I guess some get more riled up - pixel peeping for problems and worrying about everything - for me, I love photography and it provides a very zen experience - blocking out everything except the beauty to be found in our world.
Vince, the tripod is just a basic Quantaray (by Sunpak) - It was something like $37 and I've had it for 5 years or so. It compacts down reasonably small, is light, and holds even the big lens Tamron...so it suits my needs just fine for now!
Thanks both for the comments.

Great idea, Justin, and perfect for the challenge. Photography grounds/calms me, too! (Nice setup as well :-))

Hello Mr. Miller ;)

I've wondered how you manage to use your tools to capture the gorgeous nature photography that you do so well... now we have a hunch! Except, of course, the talent, which is not yet visible in the picture! I really like seeing your set up as we all know we have much to learn from each others' techniques.

What type of tripod is that, may I ask? What a great telephoto! I don't have anything that comes close to that reach and I'm very envious. Your home/environs appears to be perfect for your hobby and "calm". Lucky you! Such lush beauty.
