I think you are right - multiple saving in jpeg ruins picture. That is why I always save in .pds or .tiff and save in jpeg only final version. Thank you for your supporting of the discussion. The opinion exchange is for me the most valuable in challenge. Now - you can do just some few steps - go back to the original, do an another round of PP, post new beautiful picture to challenge and the first place is yours :-) Konstantin

Good eye, Konstantin. I attribute that to two factors. Multiple savings in jpeg and I was not modifying the original file but the submitted image. Also the new crop lost some of the light from the decreased size of the floor. I really would like to see more of this kind of critique exchange in STF. Maybe I'll post a message discussing that issue. Older than dirt.

I am the opinion that 'corrected' version is the best. Again - this is my opinion. Have to add that my wife is the same opinion ... basically does not happen often :-) PS. Don't you think that it lost some color and looks a bit faded comparing to the original ? Konstantin

Thanks for the comments Bottles. I agree with most suggestions. I usually think out my compositions but in my haste to get an image in the contest I got sloppy. I've posted what I should have posted in the samples gallery and labeled it "corrected" The straightening was a no brainer I shouldn't have missed but I disagree with cropping the top. The colors of the wall are what I wanted to show most and I think the new comp is now balanced well. I am now happy with it. Love this kind of constructive criticism and would like to see more openness in our discussions. Older than Dirt.

I like the cropped version better. The only thing I'd do though is straighten the corner of the room to a vertical position before cropping. You could then crop just a little off the bottom and quite a bit off the top to come up with a nicely composed image that does not exceed the 800 pixel suggested limit.

Older then Dirt - who am I to advise ? I am one of the unity, I am here to see what others do and to learn from them, to post my own pictures and to hear what others thinks about. And I am the opinion that communication, exchanging of our opinion - is the best way to improve our photoskills and the only right way to get fun from the challenge. What about your re-cropped picture - what do you think about ? Is it better now or you don't think so ? Folks - what do you think about ? I invite everybody to discuss this as well as other pictures, comments, suggestion. Let us be more communicative ! Konstantin.

Ooooh, this is good! Very elegant sort of composition with a rustic cafe flair, the short story is the icing on the cake!
