That's a wonderful word, Helen: "mysteriousness". When I don't learn photography here, I--or you!--improve my English. Thanks for your friendly words! -- db.

I love the mysteriousness of this image, Daniel. Lovely capture.

Thank you, Kathleen! There are quite many films trying to give an answer to your question... ;-)) -- db.

Lovely image, Daniel. I wonder what it was like to live in one of those homes in the past. Beautiful to see. - Kathy

You know what, Franky? There aren't many people living in Venice anymore; most of those working here--mainly for the tourist industry--commute from nearby Mestre. That's why this becomes so incredibly quiet soon after sunset: Venice too (as discussed in the context of my Florence entry) has become a sort of "museum of its own past". Thanks, Franky, for your kind remark! -- db.

Just an ordinary place for anybody who lives in Venice. When possible I also try to visit very popular places very early in the morning. This will provide a good light and an ordinary view on the scene. Perfect shot!

Thanks a lot, bottles, for commenting! I'm glad the image was able to transmit some of the "genius loci" of "Venice by night". -- db.

Daniel, I like all of your entries but this one is my favorite! The scene looks so quiet and peaceful, it's hard to imagine it being a busy tourist area during the day. Just beautiful!
