This is Walter.....
by willvan

This is Walter…..Walter Draycott 1883-1985. His effigy resides in a tiny park near our shopping centre and we pass him several times a week. I have been meaning to take a photo and this challenge has prompted me to do so. Thanks Frank. Walter was a pioneer of our municipality with his first book about the area published in 1919. Why is he chained to the bench? Well, its not like he tried to leave but he was “borrowed” for a short time several years ago so it was considered a prudent measure to ensure that it did not happen again. Bill

Great start for this gallery Bill! Will take some while to melt him away I believe. :-)

Bill - this is fabulous. I so-enjoy photos that have a story behind them. It appears that Walter lived a long life - to the ripe old age of 98. What a terrific entry!
