Washington, D.C.

This is the old Garfinkel's department store -- a Washington institution that sadly closed some years ago -- now a Borders bookstore. For more pictures of this wonderful old building, see http://www.pbase.com/helenpb/image/91968624 and following image.

I guess there are many lines that converge in this, or at least intersect, but my thought was that the line of windows would converge if they extended far enough.

Thank you, everybody, for your comments! I was relieved as I wasn't really sure if I was on the right track or not. And I agree, Konstantin, that pipe is pretty distracting; I'll see if I can manage to get rid of it when I get a chance.

Great picture ! The cars make it very interesting. I would take away this small pipe in down-left corner.

Beautiful photo. Beautiful building. Have seen it. Like the pretty elements that converge and the reflections. Very rich.

Great composition - I love the reflections in the windows! The line of windows is definitely converging, they take up the whole left side, and less that 1/4 of the right side - a great example for the theme.

Great catch, Helen! I also love the converging line of cars that are reflected in this one very much.

Beautiful shot, Helen. Those lights are gorgeous. And I really like the angle of the shot.
