9th - Christmas Cookie Jar
by Willem

How I did this : I placed the jar on its side on a table with frosted glass.
I put a 40W bedside table lamp underneath the glass.
Inside the jar I put a piece of semi-transparent baking-oven paper,
to prevent the pattern on the back of the jar disturb the scene on the front.
The rest of the room was lit using a 500W halogen light,
bounced against a piece of gold colored cardboard.

Here you can see the setup for this image.

0.5 s, F5, iso 100, 24.8 mm, tripod. full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

To answer your question Deb, I checked the timing of my image files: It took about 1 hour to do a more traditional setup with a black background, which I was not impressed by, then 10 minutes to come up with this setup, some test shots, the idea of the paper inside the jar and then the published shot, 30 minutes after initial setup. But I had spent the day thinking about what I wanted to try ....... Willem

Beautifully captured. I get a very warm glowing feeling as I look at it. Wondering how much time it took to set it up.--Deb

No, Omar. It is not a christmas card inside. It is a decorative jar, each year a new one is designed, the painting is on the outside of the jar, on all four sides. You are looking at the front scene and I hid the back by putting in a piece of semi-transparent oven paper inside the jar. My initial pictures showed also the back and it disturbed the front, got a bit messy. regards, Willem

This is so imaginative. Love the feeling of nostalgia. I assume that's a christmas card inside?
