5th - The Special Gift Bow
by Mark J

BTW STF members... the grainy, noisy appearance
of the shadow areas is very much intentional.

Sometimes I find harsh areas in a soft image
an interesting contrast. I know... I'm breaking
the "rules" of photography, right? :-)

Mark,
Again you gave us a great image, and as you say, breaking the rules might be good sometimes. The noisy, dark area has great contrast with the smooth, lighted area and the bow in the center, with such lively color and form is a perfect link between the two. Excellent composition!

Mark: The color effects work beautifully. Congratulations. Fremiet

Hi Eric, thank you for your suggestion. I happen to like the "noise" in the image in this case, a contrast between the soft bow and the harsh noise is kind of interesting to me. I did in fact remove / reduce the noise in the shadow area and found the image to be boring that way. IMO :-) Mark J

Hi., Mark

This is lovely -- nothing new in that. You can improve it by selecting all the bow components, inversing the selection, and running an anti-noise action, whether Adobe's built-in one or Fred Miranda's much better one. I wouldn't be posting this here, but don't have your email. Erichocinc.

Thank you for your comments on my image. Omar, how I "did this"....

I love the colors and the texture, including the "noise" against the shiny smoothness of the bow. The pictures "tells" you how the bow would feel if you touched it. Mind sharing how you did this?

Mark you have a special way of seeing the simple and ordinary. Here it is again. Very beautiful. A simple bow and light and you thought of it, set it up so it worked, and then took this picture. Good one. Ann C

Another "wow" shot, Mark! Great colors, composition -- minimalist and modern (almost futuristic).

Very nice, Mark! Great lighting and color. I remembered you had done a bow a long time ago and thought of that when I mentioned bows in the challenge suggestions. Helen
