Same Egg, Different Technique!

You might find this interesting... it's the EXACT
same egg, in the exact spot it was in as shown in my
gallery representative image but....

I photographed it from a differnt angle, using in
camera "negative art" mode. I knew that by using this
mode, it would produce an image that would appear the
way the image would appear if I were looking at a
35 mm negative of the shot and, I knew it would have a
bluish tint to it... from the experience of experience :-)

I rotated my position to take this shot (not the egg) so
if you simply use your imagination and rotate the image
in your mind... you will see it's the exact same egg, with
the exact same shadow from the lamplight. I was going to add
to Dee's rules that you could not move the egg for your
additional shots (as I did) but, thought that might be just
a tad too much to ask of some of you, who just might be
beginners in photography but, it's really a GREAT way to
teach yourself different ways of thinking and different ways
in which to "think outside the box".

In fact, that's how I taught myself photography!! In the beginning
I NEVER touched a single setting on my camera. Just learned
to use existing light and shadows to my advantage under
controlled circumstances (that being the handicap of not
being able to change the aperture etc.) Ok, so I was a bit
tough on myself for a little while but, I REALLY learned alot !!

I'lll return comments if you care to ask questions class LOL

I like this Mark! I also tried negative mode for one of my eggs, but it was on that lava lamp and I didn't like the results. The egg was fine (blue, although looked a bit different from yours), but the light was a big black circle and not so attractive. Very nicely done! Helen

Hey Upsidedown, I happen to own just such an image.. of the same egg / scene. I chose to post this one, which is simply a close-up version of the scene, so one can appreciate a little more, the detail on the egg itself. I think I'll post the other one just so people can see the difference distance and position can make. Oh and, thank you for the suggestion / critique... you are absolutely right in wanting to see a rule of thirds version :-) Mark J

Mark, that one is real nice. The only thing that bothers me a little is position of the egg. I would, probably, move it closer to either upper left or lower right corner.

Hmmm, I'm discovering it's "really" difficult to photograph a white egg on a white sheet of paper! I see a lot of people doing lots of "stuff" to the egg to make it look better. Here I am struggling to get a nicely composed, nicely balanced, identifiable white egg on a white piece of paper. Guess what -- it's not easy! --Dee
