Thanks Carmen for commenting! Yes, it's Clematis seeds. I'm not sure of the species, but I think it's "Clematis_Terniflora". You can read a little about them and even see a photo (rather poor one) of the white feathery plumes at the link below. This article mentions that the plumes (tails) mature in the fall and can be nearly as showy as the flowers.

Clematis, eh? No kidding... I was eyeing the spent clematis blooms outside my bedroom window, but I can't say I've ever seen them looking quite like this! Very cool-looking. (There is a kinship with the shape, but I've really never seen them quite like this before.)
