Eastern Market: 1873-2007
by Helen Betts

Washington, D.C.

This is the what used to be Eastern Market, a central gathering place for the community on Capitol Hill -- a working market filled with shopkeepers and an art gallery inside and vendors and a flea market outside. Almost everybody who lived on the Hill would go there on Saturdays to shop and see friends. Unfortunately, it burnt down one night last week in a spectacular blaze believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.

Great capture - I love the architectural details! Too bad it burned down - can't they restore it?
