Great image of Holly, W.C. Her treat is sort of shocking, though, at first look. Definitely a unique entry. Bev

Thanks for the comments, everyone! Holly (full name Holly Golightly) is a full grown African Pygmy Hedgehog which is what almost all pet hedgehogs are in the U.S. They are quite a bit smaller than their European cousins. They're classified as insectivores, but in the wild will eat just about anything. Ironically, Holly was more interested in exploring the table than in eating and I have lots of pictures of her walking away from the food (I thought about using one of those shots and titling it "Holly Goes on a Diet"). It would have been easier if I had had a second person to be hedgehog wrangler while I worried about composing the shot. Holly gets a pretty varied diet. She likes bananas a lot. She especially likes live meal worms. There's one kind called Monster Worms that she loves. That might have been a little too "wild kingdom" to show here, though (she makes a satified crunching/slurping noise when eating them, too). As a side note, we should probably make sure Skippy doesn't see this pic -- all this insectile carnage might be a shock to her system!

You know an image is a good one when you have a physical reaction to it. Sharp shot! Nicely composed. Here is another example of lots of hits on an photo and little or no input. Think the reality of the picture was just too much? Nevertheless, W.C., it's a great image!...It is a baby hedgehog, right?

Ewww! Looking at the thumbnail I thought, how cute. And then I looked at the big picture. Ewww bugs! Good one. Ann C

Is that a hedgehog? it's cute. I am glad you took the picture then instead of 5 seconds later when it was probably chowing down on the bugs hehehe.
