Complex
by Helen Betts

Istanbul, Turkey

Well, not the most interesting subject, but with my killer work schedule I'm having to make do with things at hand, and this was shot from the roof terrace of my hotel. Turkish apartment buildings are quite colorful, and I was taken by the colors in this one in the setting sun.

What a wonderful image, Helen. I really like the vibrant color of the building. Great way to fill the frame.---Deb

Lots to see in this one, Helen. It's interesting to observe how the different apartments are individualized - some with window awnings, and some without... some with A/C and most without... some with closed-in balconies, and some open... All this and the colors make for a very interesting shot.

Thank you for all the encouraging comments! I had shown the image to a friend of mine who went to high school here and who said, "What's so interesting about Ataköy?" so I figured maybe the image was boring (and I agonized about entering it for a long time). But I was fascinated with the building's patterns and colors and so put it in anyway. And jp, that cord going to nowhere is just so very Turkish :-). Helen

Not interesting? On the contrary, it's a very interesting subject, and a captivating image! Well done!

Helen, this building is fascinating!!! I have come back to it several times because there is so much to see. The colors are wonderful.

I like the repeating patterns, the colors, and the lighting in this shot Helen. I think it's a rather interesting subject and you've done a great job of capturing it!

You hit my sweet spot with this shot, Helen. The air conditioner in the middle of the left-most row of windows with the cord to nowhere really tops it off for me.

Great capture - I love the colors and lighting! It's interesting to see the homes and architecture from different parts of the world.
