As a new an upcoming photographer, I like your style and uniqueness at trying different things...who knew? What you captured probably made you smile when first looked upon. That's what makes us happy...a picture, an image, so wonderful that we smile when we view it for our first time. That's our reward. I have a lot to learn. That is the fun of it. I wouldn't trade it for knowing everything...the journey is the best. -Vikki

At last I found this image again, I first saw it when it first won the challenge, then I saw a very very similar image in a UK magazine and wonder whether it was the same image.

So is it the same image? Very good BTW.

Well.. this is one extraordinary strawberry image.refreshing,-eye popping.-burst of visual joy! When I look at an image this good,I enjoy it for its own sake, and also enjoy seeing how it works, what are the visual components, behind the sucessfull expressive effects. What is the strucure? Heres What I see,and I'll go by memory as I haven't devised a way of viewing the image and writting at the same time.

There is an old expression in the visual art world, that visual art is realized in the ways unity is combined with diversity. Unity is the binding force that holds things together, diversity the variety of differing elements at play in an image. To much unity means less visual involvement.Too much diversity means an overabundance of dispersed elements. To this mix, there is another key I use in viewing my own work, that is of simular importance to me-the dynamic interplay between complementary opposites.

Using these valuable visual references in relation to the strawberry image, this is what I see. The image may intially appear random, and in a sense the falling strawsberrys shot ten times will produce ten variations of where the berries group in the frame. This one has magic, a potent visual mix of contrasts.Great set up for this to occur. There is a significant visual relationship between the upper and lower group of berries. The lower group of berries fall visually ordered -in a circle -six in the outer ring -a seventh strawberry in the center. This group has a higher degree of unity, than diversity. The lower group of seven berries are individually distinct from each other, are pictured crystal clear, sharp, and resonate in a readily discernable pattern. Holding ones hand over the upper group this become clearer, then alternating holding ones hand over the lower group. The upper and lower halfs require the presence of each other,While opposite, brought together in this way, are visually complementary.

The upper group of berries,in this interplay,is not characterized by readily visable order. In contrast-these berries, tumble in a huge bubble, merge, meld and disolve in hide and seek- color and form. Green further adding its large un-berry like presence. The upper section is highly explosive in its visual drama. It invites involvement of the eye-into exploring an area where pure color and form are abstracted, and expressive and enjoyable for there own sake. While the lower berries are stable, ordered, and discriptive, the upper berries break loss an exuberant cascade of color abstraction, all the while grounded by the symmentry and relative order and calm of the lower group of strawberries.

The two areas, come together as one, blend and integrate beautifully, linked with bubbles,of various sizes throughout the image which further act as a ceiling to frame the tumbling action at the top of the frame.Such a wonderfull image- a classic,a great joy to see it appear here in the forums.

Best Regards
Norman Rich

Wonderful shot! Beautifully rendered, except maybe the last strawberry in the water needs a little haircut. Nonconformists!
It gave me the inspiration to "get wet" with my peppers shot. Thanks! -pablo

This is outstanding. Not only it is pleasing, but how difficult it must have been to capture. Sheese, I mean ZipperZ pulls of great composition in a photo of falling fruit! How incredible is that? The colors, balance, lighting are all great, and the image is sharp and punchy.

Is it me, or is the level of photograph being taken exponentiating around here? -hedgehog
