A Time Panorama of a Christmas Party
Fremiet (best seen in "original")

Here's the deal. Yesterday, the 16th of December we had a Christmas Party for our staff, at our house. "What if" I asked myself "I were to set up my Canon 1D to take one shot every 2 minutes, set behind the food table with a fisheye lens?" The shots would span the evening and the activity especially around the food table. It seemed to be a novel take on Mike's theme....and I dubbed the process a time panorama....recording extended images through time rather than through space. So what you see here is it. Possibly a bit boring, but really interesting to me because it captured the phases of the meal and the activity of the characters enjoying it. By the way, the food was Lebanese. Fremiet..

Peggy, Mike Jerry and Franky: I so appreciate your generous comments. By this time I think you all know I like to experiment and test limits. I must have been unconsciously aware of the challenge, but it was the last thing on my mind when I set this up. I just wanted to mess around and see what happened (99 shots total). It was only later that I realized that it fit the theme which was why I posted it. It also got me thinking about time panos. Anybody ever seen the intro to HBO's "Band of Brothers"...they use 2-5 shot time panos in their lead in, a bunch of different ones..the effect is amazing. I'm going to give that a shot soon. John

This is a fantastic work. Thanks for letting us participate! The set up is great and the available light plays perfectly together with the fisheye. I feel a little bit like HAL ;-)
And the dog in the last shot is fabulous ...

Great idea, Fremiet...you put that fisheye lens to good use here. I really enjoyed looking thru your sequence and reading your commentary as I went from one photo to the next. I felt like I was sitting in a chair in that room as a casual observer...or, perhaps, the server of all that food. Neat to see all the phases centered around the food table here...and a couple shots of the jolly man himself :) Well done, Fremiet. MFC
