05-DEC-2006 Helen Betts

Winter Cloak
by Helen Betts

Washington, D.C.

The U.S. Capitol is only 11 blocks from my house, so it's easy to hike down there to try to get some shots of it, although on this particular day it was so utterly freezing I could barely get fresh batteries into the H5 when the others rather quickly (I thought) gave out.

Helen, all of your D.C. shots are very nice; this is my favorite, though. I like your creative crop and use of the bare branches to balance the picture. Nice lighting, too. One would never know that it took so much effort ;-) Bev

I think this is really an effective crop, Helen...nice clarity and lighting too. Nice shot. MFC

Great shot of the captitol dome - neat how the sun is shining on it! That's really a close-up view - I love the amount of detail that can be seen.
