Very nice; and I don't know if it's the B & W or not, but it looks VERY cold. --Melanie

Pretty cold looking out there! I especially like your use of the window pane.

Jerry, I was just playing in PS (as I often do) and not at all suggesting replacing your image with a sketch :-) I like your image just as it is! Glad you liked the horse and sleigh version though, with a little work it might make a good Christmas card.

Jerry, I really like how your window "frames" a view to the two homes across the street, each with a car in the drive. Nice balance...and good choice for B&W. Nice photo. MFC

Bottles, I hadn't seen the one with the horse and sleigh. Cute, very cute! I like it!

Thanks, bottles. I do appreciate your different take on the image. I don't dislike it, but I have to confess, I do prefer the original version (or rather, the B&W conversion).

bottles, I love that sketch effect and the sleigh you added, too! It makes a wonderful holiday card. For a challenge entry, I prefer this unsketched version, though.

Really a nice shot Jerry! I like the window frame showing and the snow flakes falling! I thought this image would make a good sketch as well. I played with it in Photoshop a little and have put the results in the Demo folder for you to check out. If you just absolutely hate sketches, I'll remove it :-) I don't like all sketches myself, but I thought this one turned out pretty good. What do you think?

I shiver just looking at this. You did capture the starkness and coldness of winter from the warmth of your own home, Jerry. The homes in the background give the impression that you live high on a hill. Hope you have a wonderful view. Bev

Thanks for the positive feedback, Katherine, JP, Martin and Franky. I cropped that tiny blurred corner as Franky suggested. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
JP and Franky. I think the other shot you are thinking of is this one I shot at night last winter during a snowstorm:http://www.pbase.com/icicle50/image/57369941

Jerry, I also remember the buildings from another shot - I think it was at night, also during a storm? With this, I love the framing that comes with the window and the centered street light. * Just would crop the upper left corner, the blurred bar from the top. :-) /frank

Jerry, great work! The b&w treatment conveys perfectly a sense of bleakness and coldness that's so typical of those long Canadian winters. The window frame used around the sides additionally makes me remember how nice it felt to be inside with the heaters on, while the world outside is freezing over! ;)

Jerry, this is just really great.
I remember another shot you did like this a while ago of a house across the street.
These are my favorites of all your photos.

Nice capture of the snowfall! I really like that the window frame is in the picture - it gives me the feeling of being cozy and warm inside, watching the beautiful snow pile up.
