by Franky2005

Currently I do not have my PC available. Please apologize technical flaws (distortion and perspective). If time allows I will rework a bit later. Cheers,
Frank

Frank... I think you've done well and you fulfill the requirement of 'two or three main subjects' which a few people missed. The subtlety of orange contrasting against the grey stone is quite powerful. Good capture.

The live figure really adds a striking note and color to the classic sculpture.

The ladies are caryatids that previously build the entrance to the acadamy of arts. They represent the different arts of music, sculpture, architecture and painting. I guess they are still working on the one for photography :-) . The ugly building behind them hosts an exhibition hall and a small theatre (political comedy). This is probably why they are moved to this place, for sure would not have picked the place themselves.

Frank - They look kind of French to me, (faces look like Statue of Liberty). ;-)
They gotta be muses.
Love that spot of orange & the elongated figures.

Thanks Mike! The location is Düsseldorf, Germany (maps.google.de/?ie=UTF8&z=19&ll=51.227481,6.775504&spn=0.001248,0.002511&t=k&om=1)

Actually I must admit that I do not know anything about the background of these ladies. Will try to find out.

Cheers,
Frank

Frank, I like this stony pair...and your symmetry of composition. I think the sweeper adds a lot to the scene here, especially a good sense of scale. Nice, clear detail too. I'm really drawn to the "petrified" gaze of these figures. Where was this? Nice photo. MFC
