10th (tie) - Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957)
by Helen Betts

Okinawa, Japan

Taken at the re-enactment of Commodore Matthew Perry landing in the Kingdom of the Ryukyus in 1853. My husband, because he was U.S. Consul General to Okinawa at the time, played the part of Perry.

Perfect. I have been torn between the excellent images that are more literally connected to the film itself, and the excellent images which are suited to the titles of the film, but not necessarily the story. This is a strange hybrid - it isn't really directly connected to the title OR the story - but somehow works perfectly in both regards! The expressions really sell it. Great job.

Thank you all for your comments! I just wanted to say that I meant no disrespect to the Okinawans or the occasion; everybody was taking the re-enactment quite seriously. (I believe it was being done for a television show.) But the array of nobles just looked so grim and determined, heading for a showdown to my eye, and the title just sprang to mind :-). Helen

Excellent choice, Helen! The title sure puts an entirely different spin to the context of the image! Very giggle-worthy! ;)
