Love it, especially the whisps of smoke curling out of the oven around the rod, would like to have seen it shifted a bit to the left tho...without loosing the bricks at the right....if it's cropped you might widen the left side a wee bit to see the rest of the round part of the rod just above the pole part. Great pic! I would have thought it would have won 1st... everyones is great tho LOL congrats!

Thank you everybody for your kind comments! I must say, it was a fascinating process to watch, and it gave me a new appreciation for blown glass. I don't know how the craftspeople can stand the heat; there were about 6 furnaces going when I was there, in a large but not overly so area. The guy in charge must have thought I was pretty serious when he got a load of my 707, so he invited me in to the work area to get closer to the action. And then the way they handle the molten glass -- turning it, cutting it, shaping it, adding more material to it -- it made me nervous just to watch! Guess I'll never be a glassblower, although I do love to collect it. Helen

Helen this is so cool... or hot I should say. ;) This is something I've always wanted to do. I made stained glass objects for many years but never tried blowing glass. This picture really shows the intensity of the process. It is great! Ann C
