*Warm up for a second!
by Denise

The fireplace is in the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite Valley. I have wanted to take this photo for a long time but the hotel frowns upon you setting up a tripod in their guest areas and it is DARK. So because of this Challenge ;-)), I found a spot on the stone wall going up the stairs to support the camera. Now thats the picture you should see!!!!!

Very inviting is exactly what it is. The first time Howie and I saw this room, we had been walking in the rain and sleet for 2 hours. We had no idea where we were due to fog and our first trip ever to Yosemite. That was 23 years ago. Since then we have spent many an hour beside this fire.

Thanks everyone for your comments, feel free to have a go at the photo in the Demo Gallery ;-))

Well, everybody seems to call this scene "inviting," and I'd have to agree. Good capture, I like the very symmetrical nature of it. Helen

I agree, this is a very inviting scene, Denise. I like the warm colors myself but Gaurav's suggestion of toning down the yellow a tad may be worth trying. I'm looking forward to your modified version in the Demo folder.

Thanks Gaurav, Although the room is actually this color, I will try toning down the photo and place it in the Demo Gallery tomorrow. As far as the Yosemite at night, I had every intention of doing just that but it just didn't work out.

This is a cool shot Denise - very inviting. * You could try toning down the yellow just a tad to see if that improves the picture - incandescent lighting can sometimes over power a picture. How about some long exposures of Yosemite landmarks by starlight? ~ gaurav

Denise,
That fire looks mighty inviting, when you're looking at it from Missouri in January! Glad you were able to find a place to support the camera, you got a nice shot of it.
