Fremiet and Mrs. Fremiet Looking Down...
by John Potter

Whatever your beliefs I want to wish everyone in this generous and warm-hearted forum peace, blessings and the happiest of New Years. Your photography is inspiring and this particular community of picture sharers is simply the best.

My kids and I brainstormed ideas for our annual greeting card this year. The puppet idea prevailed (nothing could be further from the truth in terms of "control"). The "looking down" has an ironic component as the three boys are over 6 feet. From left: Elizabeth 5'5' (19) at George Mason University, David 6'4" (22) 7 months out of U. Va., Tristan (lil Fremiet) 6'3" (18) a senior in high school, hoping to attend Kenyon College in Ohio, and Sacha 6'2" (19) a freshman at Juniata College in Pennsylvania. They are what family is all about, a fun, awesome bunch!!

Technically, separate images of each of the kids, Joan and I were in the same image as the background. I extracted us and then replaced us after finding edges and desaturating the pic. I drew in the woeful controls. Fremiet

Fremiet, this is very well done...and a really fun idea for a greeting card. I really like the background effect too...and I think it enhances your image. Good work. MFC

Isabel, Roberta, Miguel, Yehuda, Bev, Helen, Ann, Tabrizi, and Katherine many thanks for your comments. I can't take credit for the idea.....it was really the kids who came up with it. Maybe I should brainstorm with them more. Happy Holidays! Fremiet

Super image, John. You seem to outdo yourself with every challenge! In addition to the very creative way you've captured you and your family, I find the background effect with the figures in it to be quite interesting. Great work! Helen

A wonderfully creative (and fun) card, John. It's nice to see your family, too, and read a little about them - and I just noticed their "ghosts" in the background. Merry Christmas to all of you. Bev

This is a winning image ... really original and very well executed ... you may consider to hang it in your house ... funny family picture.

John,
Wow! What a wonderful first entry in the Eligible Gallery. Superb greeting card. It's great that the whole family was involved in developing the concept. Together you've created a unique and fun greeting. My favorite aspect is the importance of family. Everyone is actively participating and giving their best. Great technical skills as well. Wonderful entry John!
