Temple of Dendur
by Mark Siemon

This temple was built as a shrine to the goddess Isis in about 15 B.C. by the Roman emperor Augustus. It was given to the U.S. by the Egyptian government in thanks for engineering assistance. The assistance was needed to save it and other temples from flooding caused by the construction of the Aswan High Damn. It is now at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Friement - You are correct it is hand held (Museum rules). By coincidence, I took this picture the day the challenge started but before I read the topic - just 'cause I liked it. The temple is sandstone but had yellow lights illuminating it. I think desaturating the yellow would bring it closer to what my eye saw. Thanks for the suggestion - Mark

Mark: I'm assuming this is a handheld shot. Is the color actually the color of the structure? I'm wondering if you desaturated the yellow a bit whether it would come closer....but I'm just guessing. Fremiet
