These were some type of sparrow, which native varieties in NY are all ground nesters. From what I understand they develop very quick, and are out flying in short order. It is to avoid ground predaters like fox and coyote. I wish I had spent a little more time on the DOF on this shot, but I didn't want to scare mom away. Our property is home to many nesting birds.

Great capture of these tiny baby birds with their beaks wide open! I hope they're all okay in there.
