September 2001 Carmen

A Sailor who runs to the Sea
by Carmen

Lake Windermere, England

Can't really explain the title of this one; sometimes the
words just pop into my head and that's what sticks.

Maybe it's because when I first saw this I imagined that when it gets dark and
no one's around, the tree could get up and walk around on those beautiful
exposed roots, just as if they were legs.

This was taken near Lake Windermere in the Lake District of England.

Nice shot - I love the colors, and the moss covering the roots! Carmen, there is no rule that the entries need to be less than 150 kbytes. They should be compressed to somewhere around that size, but there's no official limit.

Deb, yes it is quite small. For some reason the KB wouldn't come down to below 150 (the max, I think?) until I reduced the edge size by nearly a third. I suppose I could save the original again at a lower quality... Don't know why this happened.

Carmen, if the title fits in your mind, then it fits. End of story. This image has lots of character. I like the moss-covered roots stretching out from the trunk. It seems to be rather small, even in its original size Are you choosing not to use your allotted 800 pixels on the longest side?---Deb
