Very nice capture, Brian. They sort of look like the insect I caught in one of my entries -- I had no idea what it was! Helen

Thanks.

I actually thought they were june bugs at first, but they lack the greenish color and a friend told me they are carpenter bee's.

As far as them liking flowers, I have no idea, I just watched them 'dance' around the area for a while before I finally got this shot :). I think they may have been mating (or at least trying!).

Brian, I like your capture of this pair of black carpenter bees. I especially like the form of the one in flight...and that blur of the wings. Well composed with a nice, blue-sky background. I didn't even know these bees liked flowers...so many clean holes made by these "master carpenters" along one of my home's wooden fascia boards! :) Nice shot. MFC

Brian, it's nice to have a H1 user join the Challenge! Nice shot to have gotten the one bee hanging on to the flower and the other coming in for a landing. Did it land on the same flower? Bev
