Beautiful building - I love the contrast with the deep blue sky, and so many birds!

Dear Bev Brink. The Mosque Wazir Khan, the chief ornament of the city of Lahore, is an architectural monuments of surpassing beauty and elegance. It is entirely covered with arabesque painting and lacquered tiles, and the inlaid pottery decorations and paneling of the walls are as vivid and glowing, as bright and perfect, as ever. The style of the building is Perso-Moghal, though the founder was a native of the Punjab. The mosque is situated on a raised platform, and is reached by a flight of steps to the east. The mosque was founded in 1634 A.D., by Sheikh Ilm-ud-din Ansari, son of Sheikh Abdul Latif, son of Sheikh Hisam-ud-din a native of Chiniot, in the Jhang district, who rose to the rank f Minister in the reign of Shah Jahan, receiving the command of 70000 and the title of Wazir Khan.

Beautiful mosque -- very different from the ones we have in Turkey. Lovely color and detail. Helen

Rehan, this scene reminds me of St. Marks's in Venice where flocks of pidgeons would swarm the public square. I really like the color, clarity, and architectural detail in this shot. The birds in-flight silhouetted against the clear, blue sky is really eye-catching...neat there are so many of them. Better cover your head :) Nice capture. MFC

Rehan, this is a neat shot of the birds silhouetted against the bright sky and swarming over the plaza. Your inclusion of the buildings with their brightly colored facade is a nice contrast to the starkness of the birds. Can you tell us more about these buildings? Bev

This is a wonderful image, quite possibly my favorite of those posted in the eligible gallery so far. But I have a problem, which is that it was posted larger than the challenge rules allow (limit is 800 pixels longest side; only exception is for panos). Maybe this limitation should be reconsidered. This image looks great as posted at 1200 x 900, but of course it is unfair to compare it with images posted by other artists who have observed the size limitation. Those images would probably look better at larger sizes too....
