The Test of Time

Girne (Kyrenia), Northern Cyprus

Taken at St. Hillarion castle, one of three mountaintop fortifications originally built as watchtowers to sound a warning against Arab pirates who launched a series of raids on Cyprus from the seventh to 10th centuries.

Helen, I really like how light can be seen coming thru the tunnel from the other side...mysterious and interesting to view. Nice photo. MFC

Nice capture...it wouldn't have worked as well without that nice glimmer of light illuminating the wall at the far end of the tunnel...it carries the motion through and implies a destination. The flowers add some color interest too. I'd love to visit in person someday!

I love these old, old passageways and caves. I can't help wondering who used to walk there... before the tourists...

This is also beautiful Helen, the old earth tones with a little splash of pink flowers. Looks like a very interesting place to explore. The gallery was indeed fascinating. Linda L
