Lining up Dubhe

Colors remain truest in "medium"

Dubhe being the last of the "dipper" stars in The Big Dipper, Ursa Major. This pic informs us a bit about how those stars stay in place. I guess we knew that already.

I have noticed that compared to both my desktop images of this, and the thumbnail, the "original" image can do a violet shift depending on the monitor or the angle at which the monitor is viewed. The pic should be pretty close to the thumbnail in terms of the blues. Enjoy Dubhe

Your imagination and composition skills are amazing, John. I know we're most interested in the alignment of the stars for this challenge, but the curve of the silhouetted fence, and the hand and its glowing fingertips just make the image for me. Beautiful! Bev

So that's how "big bear" gets its "big dipper"! :) Beautiful and creative rendition depicting the precise alignment of stars within a constellation. Wonderful color and light here...perfect placement of that "orange giant" along the "bowl's" edge. The silhouette of a fence gently flowing along the bottom is a nice bonus...it transports me there as an observer to this scene. Neat that you picked Dubhe, one of the great "pointer" stars in the night sky. Creative and well done, Fremiet. MFC
