Wilmington, N.C Cape Fear River Waterfront
Fremiet
this image begs for "original" viewing.

In keeping with the theme "All Lined Up" here we have a panorama of nine frames "lined up" in a single pano rendering for this waterfront shot. CAUTION: On a few browsers the whole pano will not be displayed on "original"...compare large to original to see if you are getting it all .

For those among you familiar with the equipment, I used my Canon 1D Mark II with the Sigma 50-500 lens (the BIGMA). I mention that because in any pano shot you have to be keenly aware of the necessity of having the lens pivot around it's focal center to eliminate parallax. In this case the Bigma is mounted on the tripod with the camera off-tripod, but on-lens, so to speak. I could then move the lens forward or back as necessary to keep the rotational center directly over the apex of the tripod. I also had to fuss about keeping the lens exactly horizontal....and all that other stuff you probably already know about when taking panos.

Boy! Did this get wordy, sorry!

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Beautiful panorama - great job of stitching the frames together! I love the color, and the way the river goes around to both sides.

Fremiet, your technique for capturing this worked perfectly...& your processing looks seamless. That's quite an impressive pano...it really shows off Wilmington's waterfront well. Maybe they would want it as a runner along one of their tourism brochures or stationary. Your frames really line up well here...nice work. MFC
