26-JUN-2005 Helen Betts

Imperial Alignment
by Helen Betts

Istanbul, Turkey

Taken in the Harem at Topkapi Palace, which served as home to the Ottoman sultans and their wives/concubines until the 19th century. I was fascinated by the way the tiles were lined up on this elaborate roof overhang. Lighting is natural and not much processed.

Helen, I really like the brilliant illumination and colors of this overhang. Lovely, ornate detail...& beautiful patterns in the way the tiles line-up there. Well composed/cropped...nice color contrast with the blue sky too. Well seen and taken. MFC
