The grainy texture sets the mood for the dream...loneliness (IMO)...nicely done

Back to it again, and why I like it so much now. The balance works beautifully because the obelisk color is set off by the sun in a similar color but different shape. That works very well. The dark lines in the pic zig zag in a very pleasing way. The far coast zigs, the wave zags and the rocks zig once again. Rock outcrop at lower right triangulates really well with the moon and the obelisk, and that lower right detail is brought home by the upper left space giving it good depth, yup it all works now! Much better imo. I'd like to hear some others......Nancy, John Simon maybe?? No question in my mind that this is much stronger than the original. It all fits very well now. Great work and I'm flattered you are so receptive to my comments. John

Better, John?
Thanks much for the suggestions.

OK, now I see this, which I think is an improvement, it helps me see a bit more. The bird is a bit too big for its distance from the camera and may be also in relation to the obelisk. Soooo at least shrink the bird a bit and perhaps move both into the white water at the left....or make the top of the spray a bit less rounded and more random. Ignore what I say by all means...just ideas. The work you have done to make it foggier is great imo. John

Thanks John. Had a go at your suggestions. What do you think?

Jerry: I agree with Melanie. The misty/foggy/grainy texture fits theis perfectly and the position of the sun in relation to the obelisk and the bird is powerful. A suggestion fwiw. If the bird and obelisk were shtouded in the same way it would be much more effective imo, especially if you could get some spray around the obelisk too. I think it's worth a try just to seee...... A moody, interesting image Jerry. Looks like something I might 'dream' :). --Melanie
