'Big Yellow Taxi'
by Helen Betts

Ankara, Turkey

"Don’t it always seem to go
That you don't know what you’ve got
‘Til it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot"

Joni Mitchell

The daily gridlock about a block from my office. I must have hung out on various corners for an hour, waiting for the appropriate degree of chaos. At one point a car parked in front of me and the driver got out an stuck his head directly in the middle of the picture (intentionally, obviously). I started to tell him to get out of my way when I realized it was a good friend of mine, from the other side of town. It's a very small world here in Ankara :-).

Thanks, everyone, for your comments. Yes, I have to face traffic like this every day and yes, you would definitely hate to drive in Turkey (or be a pedestrian, for that matter). Helen

Wonderful capture, Helen. Perfect representation of both song title and theme. Do YOU have to fight this kind of gridlock every day? I hope not!---Deb
