The Radiant Couple

by MFC

Orchid House, Krohn Conservatory

Solid white orchids hanging out away from a large rock...
backlit with very strong sunlight. B&W conversion.
When I set the exposure to preserve some orchid detail,
the rocky background mostly darkened except for the
highlights...I extended them a little beyond the border.

Thanks, kt, you inspired me to change the title...

Beautiful image - I love the way you did those rock highlights!

I have to say this image has high capacity to attract. Not sure if it is the delicate play of light and shadows in the petals or the stark black background. The top flower being off centre is asking for a helping hand to fix its symetry and yet it really is just fine where it is.

Beautiful in B&W Mike, and I love the way you cloned bits of the rock for the background, it enhances the orchards just enough. Linda L

Mike, the radiance you've achieved here is incredible. Two vertically stacked and filling the frame is another great idea. The b&w conversion is brilliant. I've run out of superlatives. Let me consult Mike F.

Gaurav, I placed a thin white line around the original photo, then a black mat/frame. I cloned a few of the rock highlights from the photo into the black mat area. Thanks for the comments. MFC

Wow Mike - simply beautiful! Just one question - what do you mean by extended it past the border? do you mean you used an internal border? thanks ~gk

Nice play between light and shadows. Your conversion to black and white made the image simply beautiful. Your elegant presentation completed the image.
